Paul is a finance leader with more than a decade of experience raising capital for large-scale energy infrastructure projects, spanning project debt, tax credit monetization, corporate fundraising, and M&A. Most recently, Paul served as Fervo's Senior Director of Structured Finance, where he joined as the third member of the finance team and helped build the function from the ground up. He spearheaded project finance for Cape Station, the world’s largest EGS project, including the $421 million non-recourse debt financing for Phase I, which is the first non-recourse project financing for an EGS project, along with the tax credit structures that supported it. His work helped prove that next-generation geothermal can be financed like utility-scale infrastructure, and he brings that playbook, along with deep relationships across the project finance and tax equity markets, to Birch.
Before Fervo, Paul was the Director of Finance at Carbon America, where he managed corporate and project finance as the company closed its $30M Series A and advanced its first commercial CCS projects. It was there that he first worked alongside Mike. Earlier in his career, Paul worked at Leeward Renewable Energy, a private equity-backed utility-scale wind, solar, and storage developer.
Paul holds a B.B.A. in Finance and Mechanical Engineering through the Engineering Route to Business program at the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.
